PLUCKY Lions reserve James Sarjeant admitted he was “absolutely devastated” to see his pal Lewis Kerr sustain serious leg injuries at King’s Lynn.
The Premiership clash at King’s Lynn was abandoned after six races after two heavy crashes and injuries to Kerr and Kasper Andersen.
Kerr’s first bend bunching crash meant he needed immediate hospital treatment and a lengthy delay while a new ambulance arrived at the Adrian Flux Arena.
Then, with the score standing at 19-17, Andersen, Ricky Wells and Charles Wright all went down on the second bend of Heat 7 when racing resumed at 10.15pm.
With Andersen also needing hospital treatment the decision was made to call a halt to proceedings.
Sarj, unbeaten after two rides, admitted: “Lewi and I ride together for Glasgow and I’m absolutely devastated.
“He’s a top bloke and you just don’t want to see that sort of thing. I’m not sure how serious the injuries are to his leg but it seems he might be out of action for a while.”
